Sunflowers Blooming in November

It's late November and while I do live in sunny Southern California, I don't think sunflowers usually look this pretty this time of year.

I just finished an order for a 70-year-young's birthday bash! The order was for a sunflower cake and sunflower cupcakes. The cake's petals are made of yellow-tinted gumpaste and brushed with "pumpkin spice" luster dust.

The cake itself was spice cake with apple pie filling and stovetop caramel frosting. YUM!
